About the project
In Gontrode, a sub-municipality of Melle, the Roo church will, in addition to its religious purpose, serve as a space for lectures, musical performances, exhibitions and moments of reflection.

The social aspect is still there, because it remains a place where people meet and can look for meaning. In addition, the space is used for artistic activities, which gives the building a broad cultural function.

painting the church completely white gave us the opportunity to highlight all the important elements, such as the pulpit, the organ and the altar. The u-shaped objects made of birch plywood provide a contemporary contrast to the existing interior. The shapes can be arranged flexibly in the room. In this way, different moments are created. for subdued moments, but also for concerts. a good balance, for which a church must stand...
